Las Vegas When The Glitz Fades

You’re probably going to Las Vegas because of the attraction of the casinos, the fabulous hotels and the shows. However, you’re only human and your senses can only take so much bombardment from the glitz and the glamour and the noise. So where can you go for a bit of peace and quiet? Read on and discover some of the oases to be found in the middle of the mayhem that is the Las Vegas holidays Strip.

Flamingo Hotel Wildlife Habitat

This wonder is located behind the Flamingo Hotel. When you’re weary of the constant hustle and bustle and want a quiet getaway this is the place to come. Bring a sandwich and a takeaway coffee and wander lazily through the gardens, savouring the peace and quiet.

It’s not completely silent though. Every now and then you might be startled by the honking and babbling of the flamingos – somewhat reminiscent of the hubbub in Caesar’s Palace of an evening. There are lots of other wildlife to see, including guinea fowl, penguins and, very relaxing to watch, Japanese koi and turtles, among others.

If you look hard you’ll discover a memorial, almost hidden by the vegetation, dedicated to the man without whom Las Vegas might be a very different place today, Benny “Bugsy” Siegel. Should you be of a nervous disposition you might want to avoid the park at night as it is rumoured that Bugsy’s ghost occasionally takes a stroll around, no doubt also welcoming the relaxing atmosphere.

Bellagio Hotel Conservatory and Botanical Gardens

As a keen gardener I have to admit to loving this place. It’s open year round and is free for all. The astonishing array of exotic plants is one thing but the Bellagio’s landscaping experts turn the botanical material they work with into a feast for the eyes as they intertwine the natural world with the man-made world of gazebos, bridges and ponds.

No matter what time of year you visit, the Conservatory will have a display to match the season or holiday. Don’t miss the small glass roofed orchid house whatever you do. It’s located near to the center of the gardens and has some quite spectacular specimens of these exotic and romantic plants.

As you’re passing through the Bellagio’s lobby take a glance up and you will be greeted by the sight of what is reputed to be the world’s largest glass sculpture, the Fiori di Como, “Flowers of Como”. This fantastic chandelier consists of 2,000 glass flowers, all reflecting and refracting the light in a kaleidoscope of color. The connection with Como is that the Las Vegas Bellagio is modeled on the hotel of the same name which is situated on the shores of Lake Como, Italy.

Relax in a Venetian Gondola

Sticking to the Italian theme why not let the world of Las Vegas drift by as you enjoy a calming ride in a gondola at the Venetian hotel? If you half close your eyes and listen to the sounds of the water gently washing against the side of the boat and the smooth singing of the gondoliers, you can truly believe that you are on the Grand Canal in Venice. The illusion is compounded by the surrounding architecture which has been influenced by the famous landmarks of that part of the world.

The gondolas are modeled on the real thing and there is seating for four. If you really want to escape from it all you can hire a gondola for two but there is a hefty price hike for this luxury. There are indoor and outdoor gondola rides to be had. In my view the outdoor ones have more of the authentic feel of the real Venice but they are both great fun and highly relaxing.

There are many more similar ways to wind down a bit when you’re bored with the glamour and frantic hustle and bustle of the Strip. You might even find that you spend more time looking out for these little oases in the desert than you do in the shops and the gaming houses on your holidays to Las Vegas.

Dating Holidays Are All The Rage – Here Are The Top Tips

Holidays to most people mean fun, sun and blowing off some of the steam that has accumulated in their everyday lives. However, one of the fastest growing sectors in the holiday industry is the singles holiday, particularly 5 star cruises singles holidays. This is where people go away to lovely destinations with the goal of finding some like-minded people and hopefully building relationships. Making a good impression on these holidays is not always the easiest thing to do, so here is some advice to help you out.

Get a tan. If you are going to a hot location like you might do on Cunard cruises, it’s not great to be turning up looking like a milk bottle. First impressions are the most important thing when meeting someone so make sure you have some color to you. Don’t get carried away and end up looking like you’ve emptied a whole body of fake tan on yourself, a healthy glow will do

Relax. If you are uptight, nervous or shifty no one will want to talk to you. You’ll find that everyone on these types of holidays are in the same situation and will much more willing to communicate if you let your guard down, if only just a little bit. If some around you is uncomfortable this rubs off on other people and you’re advice to them would be to relax and just be themselves. Therefore, you should rationalise the situation and let any nerves wash over you

Have fun. Following on from the last point, finding someone and living happily ever after should not be the be all and end all of your holiday. When all is said and done, holidays are about having some time to enjoy yourself and not worry about things, and this should be the same wherever you are at whatever you’re doing. If its not to be then it’s not to be, there will be plenty more opportunities. For singles cruises consider Regent Seven Seas Cruises

Many turn to this country for discrete holidays, using the special resorts as sanctuaries. Byron at Byron offers full service including five ‘treatment’ rooms and Vichy shower, and apartment style rooms that are a good distance from the main complex, offering complete privacy.

Australia is also overflowing with natural treasures. Uluru, also known as Ayers Rock, was declared a world heritage site. The great sandstone formation is littered with waterholes and deep caves, and covered with ancient paintings, hinting at the mysterious legends that surround the huge rock. Henbury Meteorites Conversation Reserve draws scientific minds from all over the world and is the result of a meteor explosion five thousand years ago. Twelve large craters pock the ground, making it look like a lunar landscape in the eyes of many.

Barron Gorge National Park, another world heritage site, sports incredible waterfalls and tropical rainforests. Flecker Botanical Gardens brags about having at least a hundred species of the palm plant alone, and the footpaths that tread through the gardens are peaceful and serene. If it’s a park you’re looking for, Australia has it, from protected forests to open campgrounds. Hiking and guide tours are available, you only have to choose!

With a country that’s surrounded by clear blue ocean water, it’s no surprise that people flock to Australia for snorkeling and scuba diving. The Great Barrier Reef, the only living organic collective visible from space, is a protected sanctuary that still has a few choice places for tourists to drop anchor and visit the reef beneath the waves. Rare fish and sea creatures call this place home. Nearby Melbourne is a tourist capital, and visitors can purchase helicopters to fly over the reef or even take a hot air balloon ride at sunrise or sunset over this incredible city.

Once You Go All Inclusive, You Never Go Back

The popularity of all-inclusive holidays has soared in recent years, and its not hard to see why. For those people who have experienced one before, they will know just how much better it can make a holiday and how much less stressful they can be. They are like taking a traditionally holiday but all the old hassles are gone and you can spend more of your time doing the things you want to do. This will probably be very little of course but that is what lots of holidays are all about. For those people who are maybe new to the whole all-inclusive game, here are some reasons why it’s so good

Money. Imagine money not even crossing your mind each time you leave your hotel room. Not being concerned about leaving money in your room or having to find some cash to buy an ice cream. Well you can have this peace of mind when you go all inclusive because you’ll find that everything is included in the cost of your holiday, so not only can you budget better but no annoying money either

Travel. When you need to eat, you’ll probably find that you need to catch a lift to the nearest town or shopping centre if you are staying in a standard holiday resort. This means that you may have to find money each time for taxis or buses, but also pay for meals out everyday which is often costly. All inclusive resorts however usually have multiple different restaurant types that you can eat from, right on your door step. So no need to travel long distance to satisfy your appetite.

Luxury. You go on holiday to have all your concerns taken away and not have to want for anything. Simular to luxury cruises including peter deilmann cruises, all-inclusive resorts are so convenient when you want a quick snack or cheeky drink that you’ll begrudge having to make anything for yourself when you return home.
